vodafone ads, peskimo

these are some designs taken from another Vodafone campaign, produced by Peskimo. the second of the designs is my favourite, this is due to the fact that myself and Scott could use the world map to show some of our concepts such as 6 degrees of separation. however we might find other ways of incorporating the world map to show that we're better connected, as i feel the world is massive and communicating/ connecting to people around it is vital.

vodafone ads

these are a selection of ad campaign's used by Vodafone. out of this selection i really like the type based designs using seat belts, ticket stubs and rail maps to signify different locations that you can use the internet on your phone. this idea is really clever, (simple and effective). i think that if myself and Scott can pick out key feature from o2's campaign's and see what kind of concepts, that can be created in a similar mannor but unique to o2. the reason for the other designs are that they are really interesting illustrations that relate to the message of the company at the time and are something i would be interested in producing for this project, but i will need to find appropriate means to do so.

guilherme marconi, other designs

these pieces are some of Guilherme Marconi's other work for Havana's and Nike. i just love how the designs fill the entire design space anf they are so engaging also the hiarachi has been thought about as well, as there is a distinctive main image which the rest of the images project from and the ligting effect helps this idea. by using one main image especially in the Havana's, the focus of the reader is on the flip flop and that it's Havana's. where as the nike advert is my favourite as there is a a selection of images that are the main foucus of the design and the use of drop shadow helps make them satnd out, also the addition of the the type "nike" and "just do it" adds another element to the design and message of the company more clearer.
this is the style and concept that i feel could be used to approach a design for this o2 brief, we're better connected.

at and t prints, guilherme marconi

these are some designs produced by Guilherme Marconi, an illustrator who i have been interested in for a while now, these designs are for an American based phone company. the designs are done in the same style as a lot of his other work, but i still feel that his work is still really interesting as he uses really bright, eye catching colour's and the vectors are really crisp. the designs as a whole look amazing in my opinion and would defernatly draw me if i saw them on the streets of leeds.

orane print based, si scott

I'm personally a big admirer of Si Scott's work. this is some of the early work he did for orange. i really like the simplicity and the illustrative element to the design, something i would like to incorporate into my personal work. in terms of this brief i like how the type starts of standard then at "something set it free" the illustrative flow and feeling of setting the type free is captured really effectively. illustrated type is something i really would like to test in this project and see if it can work as well for and o2 campaign as it has done for orange.

orange print based adverts

these designs are a selection from orange's advertising campaign's, what i like about these designs is the illustrative feel they have and that they seem really bright and aesthetically pleasing. as a set i like the "reasons for, we're better together" as they work really well as a set and it gives me some ideas on how we could produce a set like this for our o2 brief.
other than this i really like the billboard design as it fills the entire space with writing and is very attractive and draws your attention to it when you see it. also on a more structured approach the more recent blackberry advert works well and is so simple but the image and type are layed out perfectly and looks really professional.

o2 typeface

This is the typeface that o2 use for their logo and branding. it was designed by Adrian Frutiger, and commissioned in 1968. We will be using the same type face within our design to keep consistent to the original o2 identity.
